- Public Lecture: Dr Kristian McDaniel-Miccio (University of Denver) will give a lecture titled ‘Out of the Closet, Into the Courts: The Struggle for Marriage Equality in the U.S. and Ireland’. This lecture will be on the marriage equality movements in both the US and in Ireland. Dr McDaniel-Miccio has a rather unique perspective as both scholar and litigant: she and her wife were lead plaintiffs in the law suit that overturned Colorado’s marriage celebration and recognition ban. The lecture will focus on the legal and political challenges and outcomes in the struggle for equality.
