Emmet began his role as the new disAbility Office Manager in February 2024. He studied film after he finished secondary school and in his 20's worked primarily as a teacher, teaching English as a second language, creative writing and screen writing. This led to an opportunity to run several scriptwriting workshops with a group of autistic adults who were part of Gheel Autism Services. He then got a full-time job as a support worker in this organisation and later went back to college to complete a Masters of Education in Autism with the University of Birmingham. His dissertation focused on intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours in autistic adults. During his time in Gheel he moved into management positions and gained further experience in dealing with the administration and financial duties for all the Transition Outreach teams in the organisation.
