Niteline
Who?
Niteline is a listening, support and information service run by and for the students of DCU, NCAD, RCSI, TCD, UCD and their affiliate colleges. In order to maintain the confidentiality and thus the credibility of Niteline, volunteers are required to remain extremely discreet about their involvement in the service - you can rest assured that you are talking to another student, but they will never know who you are and you will never need to know who they are. We guarantee absolute confidentiality and anonymity.
What?
We’re here if you ever feel that you would like to talk to someone that will listen, accept and understand without judging. You can talk about anything; no problem is too big or too small. All calls remain strictly confidential. Callers are not required to give their names or any other identifying details.Whatever you say stays between you and the volunteer taking your call. Volunteers have no idea who you are or where you're calling from. You remain completely anonymous. Callers are encouraged not to give their names or other identifying details, such as what they study or where they live. Volunteers provide an open and accepting atmosphere and will not judge you or what you say. Niteline volunteers will not tell you what to do or direct you towards a particular course of action. We will simply listen and try to work through things with you. Niteline volunteers go through a rigorous screening and training programme based on the Samaritans model and run with the help of the College Counselling Services.
