Single Honors Junior Freshman year
The first year in History of Art and Architecture is a foundation year, during which you are provided with a broad survey of the developments of art and architecture from the classical era to the present day. In addition, there are courses that look in more detail at the techniques used by artists and architects over the centuries; that focus on particular ‘canonical’ buildings and works of art; that examine the sources and methods used in the study of art, and there is the opportunity to carry out a study project on a topic of particular interest to you. Emphasis is placed on direct engagement with the architectural environment around you and on getting to know the national and College collections at first hand.
