HAU11011 Study Skills in Art History
This module will introduce students to some of the fundamental skills that will be required in their study of history of art and architecture. It will examine how research questions may be successfully devised and pursued. It will explore some of the concepts that underpin art history as an academic discipline, such as the different ways in which objects may be analysed and written about. It will demonstrate the necessity of full and correct referencing.

Students will be introduced to key primary and secondary sources, finding aids and repositories with which they will need to become familiar.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon the successful completion of this module students should be able to:
- Navigate physical and virtual sources to locate material relating a broad range of artworks and buildings.
- Critically assess the use of sources in different types of academic writing.
- Explain and apply the key principles of writing about art and architecture.
