HAU11008 Works in Focus 2
This module provides students with the expertise to gain in-depth of knowledge of specific works of art and architecture.

Complementing the survey lecture course HAU11006 both chronologically and geographically, each week students will examine a different artwork or building from multiple perspectives. Aspects such as materiality, artistic techniques, agency and iconography will be considered across a broad sample of canonical artworks including manuscripts, sculptures, mosaics, wall paintings and buildings.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon the successful completion of this module students should be able to:
- exhibit an in-depth knowledge of a number of key works of art and architecture from the eighteenth century to the present day
- undertake informed analysis of comparable works using a variety of perspectives
- engage in close visual observation and to analyse and interpret visual material
- apply knowledge of the history of reception and the ways in which works have been designed for viewers, audiences and consumers
