Research Payroll - staff on Specific Purpose Contract

Actions required for Specified Purpose Contracts for Researchers with an upcoming Contact End Date

If the contract is to terminate

If the contract is to TERMINATE on this date – please email hrresearchstaff@tcd.ie with the completed Leaver Form at least 4 weeks prior to the employee finishing to ensure no overpayment is made.

N.B. If this employment is not continuing, please ensure that you comply with the minimum notice period and/or the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, 1973-2001.
If you require any further clarification on the above Acts or require any information regarding this staff member’s length of service, please contact HR Contracts at HR_Contracts@tcd.ie.

If the contract is to continue

If this contract is to CONTINUE please supply the following information:

If the employee is remaining on the same project with the same PI please email hrresearchstaff@tcd.ie to advise of new contract end date.

If there is a change in project code

If there is a change in project code but the PI is remaining the same please provide the new contract end date which Employee Services will update and a Staff Transfer form will need to be completed and sent to FSD for the project code to change.

If there is a change in the project details

If there is a change in the project the employee is working on but it is with the same PI please provide the new contract end date to Employee Services, contact the HR Contracts team so a new contract with the new project details can be issued and signed by the employee and send a Staff Transfer form to FSD to update the new project codes.

If there is a change of project and change of PI

If there is a change on project the employee is working on and there is a new PI please complete a Nomination form to be approved by your School and a new contract to be issued and signed by the employee

  • Complete Nomination form and submit to your School Manager for approval
  • Email hrresearchstaff@tcd.ie to advise the employee is moving to new post and not to be ceased on Core
  • Please notify the Garda Vetting team if vetting is required. Go to the Garda Vetting page for more information.

If there are changes to employee hours

If there are any changes to the employee's FTE (hours increase/decrease) please email hr_contracts@tcd.ie for a new contract to be issued and signed before the hours can be amended by the Employee Services team. Employee Services cannot amend an employee FTE without a signed contract.

If there are changes to employee salary

If there are changes to the employee's salary please email hrresearchstaff@tcd.ie to advise of the new rate of pay and the date it is effective from.
