RESEARCH INTEREST:
My research focuses on the ancient DNA of Medieval Manuscripts connected to Ireland and Britain. This project is part of the Trinity Research Doctoral Award interdisciplinary group titled 'Wandering Books'. My part of the project aims to understand the origins of the animals by extracting ancient DNA from the parchment rubbings, a non-invasive technique. By analysing part of the Medieval textual record, I aim to have a better picture of the animal species used for manuscript making in terms of their origins, sex and kinship. Furthermore, livestock evolution and a metagenomic analysis, along with human DNA detection from these texts will be established.
