RESEARCH INTEREST:
Most European livestock species were domesticated in Southwest Asia around 10,000 years ago and later brought into Europe along human migrations. After the initial domestication process, livestock species continued to evolve, adapting to their new environments and being influenced by human management practices. However, there still is much that we do not know. As part of the “Animals and Society in Bronze Age Europe” project, I look at the genetic makeup of cattle and sheep during the Bronze Age in Europe to help create a more holistic picture of the way humans and their domesticated animals interacted in prehistoric Europe.
