Spotlight Series - Dr Larissa MeierDr Larissa Meier of the Department of Sociology is up this month for our Spotlight Series! Larissa's research explores the causes and consequences of contemporary political conflicts, with a particular focus on social movements, political violence, and civil resistance. -
15th Dermot McAleese TA AwardsCongratulations to Mackenzie Batista and Elena Karagianni who were named the best teaching assistants in Philosophy and Political Science. Lorenzo Cavaglia and Míde Power (not pictured) won the prestigious award for Economics and Sociology. -
Professor Mark Ward joins Department of SociologyProf Ward brings with him a prestigious ERC Consolidator Grant (2026–2031) for his project, GLOMoL: A Global study of the macro- and individual-level causes and consequences of loneliness. GLOMol explores the reasons for international differences in loneliness. -
UN's Tom Fletcher delivers 2026 Henry Grattan Lecture in LondonThe Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs focused on immigration, international order and the moral responsibilities of citizenship. Professor Gail McElroy moderated the Q&A for the Lecture at the Embassy of Ireland in London.
