TTMI Key Deliverables
The mission of the TTMI is to lead translational medicine in Trinity College Dublin and Trinity Health Ireland. TTMI will contain the spectrum of translational medical research disciplines from bench sciences to patient-focused research, creating a new model of Trinity Translational Research. TTMI will furthermore train the next generation of clinicians and basic researchers in translational medicine.
Key deliverables- TTMI will be the focus of translational research for Trinity College Dublin creating the Trinity Translational Drug Development Pathway
- TTMI will create a unique conduit for progressing multidisciplinary biomedical research from different TCD Schools into a clinical environment
- TTMI will synergize with the clinical excellence across Trinity Health Ireland
- TTMI will enable the creation of an Institute of Cancer on the St James’s Hospital Campus
- TTMI will develop on the St James’s Hospital Campus a unique conduit for cradle-to-gave research with the New Children Hospital and the Mercers Institute of Successful Ageing
- TTMI will lead to new opportunities to be successful at capture of major international funding in translational medicine, in particular the Horizon 2020 research and innovation investment in “better health for all”
- TTMI will harness the combined excellence across TCD and THI to develop stratified patient research
- TTMI will retain and recruit world leading basic and clinician scientists through grants from national (SFI, HRB) and international (ERC and Wellcome Trust) funding agencies.
- TTMI will facilitate clinical translation of key enabling technologies from CRANN and others College Institutes in Diagnostics, Medical Imaging, Therapeutics and Regenerative Medicine
- TTMI will be the environment for education and training of basic and clinician scientists, and aligned healthcare professionals, in translational biomedical research
- TTMI will be the interface with the general public to showcase the medical research excellence of Trinity College Dublin
