Travel Bursary Report April 2023 - Merve Ataman Devrim

Merve is a PhD candidate and a member of the Infant and Child Research Lab in the School of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin.

My PhD research aims to explore the developmental outcomes of prematurely born toddlers in relation to parent-toddler interaction.

Specifically, the study I presented at the 18th World Congress for the World Association for Infant Mental Health (WAIMH 2023) examines preterm-born toddlers’ joint attention interactions with their mothers and fathers compared to their term-born peers and demonstrates how preterm birth may influence toddlers’ joint attention interactions with both parents.

I presented my research in a poster presentation session, shared the findings with well-known researchers in this area of research, and got insights into the theory and the practical issues.

Also, the talks and posters focused on early development at WAIMH 2023 were very relevant to my area of research. I had the opportunity to attend the lecturers’ talks, symposiums, and paper and poster sessions for five days.
