Travel Bursary Report October 2023 - Amanda Mathieson
Amanda is a First Year PhD candidate in the School of Education, the TRiSS Travel Bursary helped fund her trip to the Japan SciComm Forum in Okinawa.
I was really delighted to speak at the 2023 Japan Sci Comm Forum this month. It was my first time attending the conference and I discovered that there is such a great science communication community growing in Japan. Thank you to the organisers, some of whom are Thilina Heenatigala, Adrian Skov, Jonas K. H. Fischer, PhD, Dr.Dania Alkhatib and Andrew MacIntosh.
Another bonus was being able to go back to Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology - such a beautiful campus and absolutely fantastic people. It was great to visit my old lab, say hello to some old friends and even look at my old lab book! I was also so happy to see my old calligraphy still displayed in the lab.
