Welcome from the Director
Welcome to Trinity Research in Social Sciences at Trinity College, Dublin. TRiSS was founded in 2015 as a vehicle to support and advance world-leading research in the social sciences at Trinity by bringing together social sciences researchers from across the University.
TRiSS currently represents 14 disciplines involved in social science research across 8 different schools.
The excellence of the social sciences at Trinity has been recognised internationally with the most recent QS subject rankings listing five of the member disciplines of TRiSS (Politics and International studies, Education, Law, Sociology and Social Policy and Administration) in the top 100 in the world in their disciplines. TRiSS supports and promotes this world class research by:
-
Providing a unifying identity for Social Science Research - TRiSS provides a single physical and intellectual identity for all social science research in Trinity regardless of discipline or research theme.
-
Providing research infrastructure - TRiSS provides a research infrastructure to support existing research and to foster increased collaboration and interdisciplinarity. TRiSS has a large physical presence in the Arts building with 68 postgraduate desks, academic offices, and a large high-tech seminar room.
-
Communicating social science research to key stakeholders nationally and internationally - TRiSS highlights the contribution of social science to current public issues. TRiSS has a busy calendar of social science related events (currently over 50 seminars and workshops scheduled), a visiting scholars programme, a short course programme and a directory of our researchers.
-
Promoting collaboration - TRiSS offers a single one-stop shop for academics seeking to collaborate with social science researchers, either within or outside Trinity. TRiSS brings Trinity’s internationally recognised social science academics together under one umbrella to draw on research strengths across multiple disciplines. TRiSS also provides a research fellowship programme to support academics conducting interdisciplinary research.
Our website is designed to provide you with the most current and up-to-date information about our research, events and publications. However, we welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly and are always delighted to hear from potential collaborators so please do get in touch.
