Using Creative Assessment to Support Undergraduate Research: the “Beckett Beyond” Zine Project

Date: 17 Feb - 17 Feb 2025
Time: 10:00 - 11:00
Venue: Neill Lecture Theatre, Trinity Long Room Hub

A round table seminar as part of the School of Creative Arts Research Forum.

About the event:

The School of Creative Art Research Forum is delighted to host a roundtable on creative assessment as a tool to support undergraduate research on Monday 17 February at 10 am in the Néill Lecture Theatre of the Trinity Long Room Hub.
Following the launch of the 2025 “Beckett Beyond” zine exhibition in the Eavan Boland Library (13 February 2025, 6 PM) – a collaboration between the Department of Drama, the Library and the Trinity Centre for Beckett Studies – the roundtable seeks to reflect on the the ways in which creative assessments can support and promote undergraduate research with a special focus on:

  • foregrounding and developing UG contribution to research,

  • fostering collaboration between members of the research community,

  • designing creative assessments to encourage and support academic integrity,

  • using feminist pedagogy to build inclusive, learner-centred curricula,

  • creating tools and methods to assess creative work.

The roundtable gathers Helen Bradley, Drama and Film Subject Librarian; Jack Briody, undergraduate researcher of the “Beckett Beyond” module and author of Sartorial Beckett; Dr Autumn Brown, Post-Doctoral Researcher and Zine Expert; Dr Nicholas Johnson, Associate Professor and Head of Drama, Founder and Co-Director of the Trinity Centre for Beckett Studies; Céline Thobois-Gupta, Adjunct Assistant Professor in Drama, creator and lecturer of the “Beckett Beyond” module. Attendee participation is also welcome.

The School of Creative Arts Research Forum meets weekly on Mondays from 10am-11am in the Neill Lecture Theatre in Trinity Long Room Hub. The aim of the Forum is to provide a space for School researchers, both staff and postgraduate students, to share their ideas in an informal and supportive environment. It is also an opportunity for the School to hear about the research of colleagues both from within TCD and from outside the university who share our research interests. In line with the research agenda of the School, talks encompass traditional research and practice-based research.

Please indicate if you have any access requirements, such as ISL/English interpreting, so that we can facilitate you in attending this event. Contact: weiyi@tcd.ie
