Queer Irish Poetry Now - A Symposium

Date: 25 Jan - 25 Jan 2025
Time: 10:00 - 19:00
Venue: Neill Lecture Theatre, Trinity Long Room Hub

A symposium on queer poetry organised by the School of English.

Please register for the event here.

Organised in collaboration with the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen's University Belfast, this symposium sets out to celebrate and interrogate what it means for a poem to be queer. With a keynote address from Professor Ed Madden (University of South Carolina), a keynote conversation with Dr Paul Maddern, editor of Queering the Green and panel discussions which approach queerness from several angles across Irish poetry, including Irish-language poetry, we are looking forward to a day of stimulating conversation. This symposium will conclude with the launch of a follow-up reading group which will run at the Hub in February - Interrogating Queer/Cuir Poetry: Defamiliarising 'Queer' through reading Irish and Latin American Poetry.

Please indicate if you have any access requirements, such as ISL/English interpreting, so that we can facilitate you in attending this event. Contact: orcharde@tcd.ie
