ArtWorks
The Trinity Access Programmes and the Goethe-Institut Irland offer a cultural programme which introduces Transition Year students from our Partner Schools to creative arts projects being implemented in Dublin. This is about giving access to places which these students may have previously perceived as not for them: theatres, galleries, writing centres or concerts halls. Young people are encouraged to get to know new ways of thinking within these spaces, to use their creativity and make these spaces their own. Project partners include: Goethe Institut-Irland, Fighting Words, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, The Abbey Theatre, Fishamble Theatre, The Douglas Hyde Gallery, The LAB Gallery, The Irish Film Institute and The Trinity Musical Society.
This TY programme focuses on the expressions and ideas of Creative Arts in Dublin city today. Each session is hosted by our cultural arts partners and exposes our TY students to each institutes' programmes through interactive sessions. The programme plans to encourage a sense of creative expression amongst its participants and also deepen their cultural capital by exposing students to new subjects available to them at third-level. These sessions provide opportunities for students to explore topics of art, culture, literature and politics through an emphasis on the challenges placed upon access to Creative Arts spaces today.
