Access Achievement Awards - Primary School
The Access Achievement Awards celebrate primary school students in our partner schools who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence, leadership actions, and kindness and empathy towards their fellow students.
Awards:
There are 6 awards per school. There should be three award winners from fifth class and three award winners from sixth class. In line with the National Plan for Equity of Access to Higher Education 2015-2019, students from the Irish Travellers Community and students with physical, sensory and multiple disabilities should be prioritised. Please outline in the Google Form if special accommodation is required.
The award winners are selected by liaison officers in consultation with school colleagues. Ideally, the decisions will be collaborative and consultative, made by class teachers, home school liaison officers, special needs assistants and so on.
The Educational Achievement Awards are as follows:
Salters Sterling Leadership Award: Students selected for the Salter Sterling Gold Medal Award have often put others before themselves; they have shown a great sense of civic-mindedness and purposefulness in their classrooms, schools and communities. These students stand out as the leaders of tomorrow, as they have chosen to take action in the present and to make their schools and communities better places.
Please note there should be at least one Salters Sterling Leadership Awards per school.
Kindness Award: Students selected for the Kindness Award have demonstrated extraordinary levels of kindness to their fellow students and classmates. Through their demonstrations of friendliness, assistance, and compassion, this award is presented to students who have made their school a more welcoming environment for others.
Please note there should be at least two Kindness Awards per school.
Student Persistence Award: Students selected for the Student Persistence Award are honoured for accepting and overcoming obstacles that arise inside or outside the classroom. Through their demonstration of courage, resilience, perseverance and dedication to their learning, these students are a source of inspiration to their school community. For example, a student can win for academic excellence, attendance or for preserving with school in difficult circumstances.
Please note there should be at least three Student Persistence awards per school.
