- Title
- Are early nutrition, maternal and environmental factors associated with problematic childhood eating behaviours at 5 and 10 years of age?
- Summary
- The ROLO Study is a longitudinal, birth cohort of mothers and children who were recruited at 13 weeks' gestation for a healthy eating intervention, in Dublin, Ireland. They have been followed up at multiple time points; 13, 20, 28 and 34 weeks' gestation; birth, 3 and 6 months; 2 and 5 years; and at present are being followed-up at 9-11 years. Of the 759 infants born into the ROLO Study, 403 mother-child dyads were followed-up at 5 years and it is anticipated that 500 mother-child dyads will be followed-up at the 9-11 year time point. We aim to determine if early nutrition (breastfeeding duration, timing of introduction of complementary foods), maternal factors (dietary intakes, wellbeing, eating behaviours) and environmental factors (socioeconomic status, childcare arrangements) are associated with childhood eating behaviours at 5 and 9-11 years. We also aim to determine if eating behaviour at age 5 years is predictive of eating attitudes at age 9-11 years.
