"Better energy cost information changes household property investment decisions: Evidence from a Nationwide experiment" is co-authoreed with James Carroll, Eleanor Denny and Ivan Petrov. It is the first paper to conduct a large controlled trial for residential properties covering a nationwide market

New Article by Professor Ronan C. Lyons and Maximilian Günnewig-Mönert in Real Estate Economics
In "Housing pricese, costs, and policy: The housing supply equation in Ireland since 1970", Lyons and Günnewig-Mönert examine how responsive new housing supply in Ireland has been to changes in housing prices and costs. To do this, they use data for Ireland and for Dublin from the 1970s to the 2020s, as well as county-level data from the 1990s.
Telenovelas and attitudes toward the LGBTQ+ community in Latin America
Professors Selim Gulesci, Alejandra Ramos and Maria Lombardi study how exposure to soap operas with LGBTQ+ characters affects attitudes in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Borrowing Constraints and Demand for Remedial Education: Evidence from Tanzania
Professor Selim Gulesci and his co-authors examine a household's willingness to pay after a cash transfer is used to relax their borrowing constraints. The article looks at various examples of households in Tanzania.
Group Incentives for the Public Good: A Field Experiment on Improving the Urban Environment
Professors Carol Newman and Tara Mitchell have recently published a research paper with The World Bank Economic Review in March 2024. Co-authored with Marcus Holmlund and Chloë Fernandez, the paper investigates strategies to overcome the public goods problem in the maintenance of communal spaces and infrastructure in an urban environment.

2022 TIME Keynote Lecture - Monday, December 5th
Trinity IMpact and Evaluation Unit (TIME) is hosting their annual keynote lecture on Monday, December 5th in the Dargan Theatre from 6:30-8pm. Professor of Economics Dean Karlan of Northwestern University will deliver the lecture, entitled Empowering the Unempowered with Multi-Faceted Economic Inclusion Programs: Lessons from the Past, Ideas for the Future, which focuses on anti-poverty research in developmental economics.

TIME Launches Impact Evaluation Methods Online Course 2022
The Trinity Impact Evaluation Research centre has launched the second iteration of its flagship online course. Applications are now open for the 6-week course commencing on May 9th 2022. Researchers and practitioners from research institutions, governments and NGO’s in fields of development are encouraged to apply. The Course is supported by Irish Aid and eight scholarships are on offer to citizens of Irish Aid Partner countries.
Trinity research shows how low-cost interventions can improve the welfare of women living with HIV
Trinity research conducted in HIV clinics in Uganda sheds new light on how low-cost interventions can improve the welfare of women living with HIV. This study examined the impact of three separate interventions aimed at providing information on the importance of nutrition, and at inspiring women to improve their outcomes in a sustainable way, via peer learning and role models.
TIME Launches Impact Evaluation Methods Online Course
The Trinity Impact Evaluation Research centre has launched an exciting new 5-week online course in Impact Evaluation Methods starting in November 2021. The course is interactive and collaborative and allows participants to develop an impact evaluation design for their organisations. The course is supported by Irish Aid. Eight scholarships are on offer to citizens of Irish Aid partner countries.

Professor Andrea Guariso publishes in Peace Economics, Peace Science and Public Policy
Professor Andrea Guariso has published a new article titled "Armed Conflict and Schooling in Rwanda: Digging Deeper" (joint work with M. Verpoorten). The article empirically investigates how armed violence affected educational outcomes in Rwanda during the nineties.

TIME link up with LSE, CEPR and Bread to organize a Conference in Development Economics
The Conference in Development Economics, in collaboration with the LSE, CEPR and BREAD and funded by Irish Aid, took place on the 21st and 22nd of September at the London School of Economics. The conference featured presentations on various topics in development economics, including slum upgrading, conditional cash transfer programs and migration, from scholars from leading universities and institutions across the globe.

TIME delivers Summer School in Impact Evaluation
Trinity Impact Evaluation Unit, in conjunction with Irish Aid and Trinity College Dublin hosted their first Summer School in Impact Evaluation in September 2017. The Summer School saw participants from a variety of backgrounds participate in four days of training in quantitative and qualitative analysis.
1st TCD/LSE/CEPR Workshop in Development Economics
The first Workshop in Development Economics, in collaboration with the LSE and the CEPR, and funded by Irish Aid, took place on the 18th and 19th of September in Trinity College Dublin. The workshop featured presentations on numerous topics in development economics including investment, productivity and agriculture with scholars from leading universities and institutions across the globe. Invited keynote speakers were David McKenzie (World Bank) and Imran Rasul (UCL).
New Research Initiative to Investigate the Impact of Development Aid
Identifying what development aid investments really work is the aim of a new research initiative in Trinity College Dublin launched by Michael Gaffey, Director General of Irish Aid on Monday, September 21st, 2015. The new research group, Trinity IMpact Evaluation (TIME) Unit, brings together researchers working on micro-economic impact evaluations, development practitioners, and policy makers in an effort to understand the impact of development aid investments.
