Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation
The M.Phil. in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation is designed to suit the needs of specialists already working in conflict resolution and reconciliation, as well as those new to these fields of study. This course is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland reflecting the School and Trinity’s commitment to cross-border education. It offers an inter-disciplinary approach to the challenges of political and social reconciliation in the aftermath of armed conflict. It equips graduates for work with local and international organisations and provides transferable skills for a wide variety of careers, including mediation, diplomacy, policy, advocacy, journalism, teaching, and ministry, as well as Ph.D. research. Students are offered the chance to engage with community-based actors and organisations involved at grassroots level in the process of conflict transformation and social justice. As such, the course is a hybrid of the theoretical and practical and offers a dynamic learning experience beyond the classroom setting.

Development Practice
The Masters in Development Practice (MDP) encompasses an integrated theoretical and practical approach with multidisciplinary training in four “pillars”- health, natural, social, and management sciences. Eighteen core academic modules provide rigorous training across the core pillars, complemented by masters level training in research design, methodology, and methods including training in leading edge quantitative, qualitative, and digital tools and techniques. The programme includes four work-based placements which provide hands-on practical experience for students, both in International Development NGOs and International Intergovernmental Organisations. This programme aims to create a new generation of development practitioners with the skills to implement and manage comprehensive approaches to sustainable and efficient development. The Dublin MDP is a member of the global network of Master’s in Development Practice, headquartered at Columbia University, New York, linking with over 30 universities and hundreds of partner organisations worldwide.

Global Health
The MSc in Global Health is a multi-disciplinary course using biosocial models to address global health challenges. The course provides students with academic knowledge and practical skills to become leaders in global health research, policy and practice. With a strong emphasis on understanding how to strengthen health services at a systems level, the programme develops and sharpens critical thinking, analysis and practice. With a mix of students from low, middle and high income countries, the programme provides for significant opportunities to learn across different cultural and contextual situations. Students from diverse backgrounds including clinical, biomedical, social science and other backgrounds consistently question each others assumptions and provide a rich dynamic for explorative learning.

International Peace Studies
International Peace Studies students are immersed in an interdisciplinary cutting-edge course of study that examines the causes and consequences of war and armed conflict, with a view to understanding how to achieve sustainable peace. Lecturers draw on inter-disciplinary perspectives from politics and political science, international relations, philosophy, sociology, ethics and conflict resolution, allowing students to engage critically with the social, political and economic issues associated with peace and violence. The course also provides students with the opportunity to engage with those working in conflict resolution and peace-building, by providing an internship module, field trips to Belfast and UN Geneva and various guest lectures from experienced diplomats and NGO officials throughout the year.
