Postgraduate Course Proposals
The Postgraduate Renewal Programme is piloting the implementation of the new two-stage programme approval process. Schools/disciplines considering developing a new programme should complete the Expression of Interest Form, to arrange to discuss the proposed programme.
Queries relating to the development of the proposed programme structure and Trinity’s regulatory environment, should be directed to Ewa Sadowska at esdowska@tcd.ie. Ewa will also advise on scheduling the proposal for review at the Graduate Studies Committee.

Programme Approval Process
The new two-stage postgraduate programme approval process has been in place since January 2024 and is captured in the graphics below.

Submission Dates for 2024/25
Programme proposals need to be approved by Council before advertising for the programme can begin. Proposals must be approved at Graduate Studies Committee (GSC) before proceeding to Council.
Council dates for 2024/25 where programme proposals may be considered are as follows:
- November 20, 2024
- February 5, 2024
- March 12, 2025
- April 16, 2025
GSC meeting dates for consideration of course proposals in 2024/25 are as follows:
- October 17, 2024
- November 14, 2024
- December 12, 2024
- January 23, 2025
- February 27, 2025
- April 3, 2025
Please see below the corresponding GSC and Council dates for approval of programme proposals.
Note that as there are no Council meetings scheduled for December and January, programme proposals approved at GSC in November, December and January will be brought to the February meeting of Council for approval.
Note that programme proposals that do not meet the deadline for the November meeting of Council will not be able to advertise until Council approval is received and that the earliest possible date for approval will be February 2025.
