Marie Devitt
Marie Devitt is the Pathways Coordinator in the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities in the School of Education, Trinity College Dublin. Marie is responsible for building the TCPID Business Partners Network and securing both financial and practical support from the business community for the TCPID. She works closely with the TCPID Business Partners to develop work placements, paid internships and employment opportunities for students and graduates of the programme.
Marie has an honours degree in French and Italian from University College Dublin and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Studies from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business. Marie brings over 20 years of business experience to the Pathways Coordinator role, primarily in the areas of business development, product development, marketing and customer relationship management.
She manages a portfolio of over 40 business partners. She works closely with key decision makers in organisations, senior managers and HR teams providing feedback from companies to inform curriculum development and student support. Marie has co-developed an innovative lecture series for the Professional Masters in Education and Masters in Education programmes. Delivered by graduates of TCPID informing future educators on the experience of being student with an intellectual disability in second level education.
Marie’s areas of research focus on the application of inclusion and diversity in the modern workplace. The supports and advice that businesses require in order to implement their equality inclusion and diversity goals.
Marie’s Projects / Publications
Set up new School of Education Trinity TY Visions for Education programme in 2022.
- Lead team of 15 colleagues for TY planning committee.
- 19 TY students attended the first TY week in February 2023
- 32 TY students attended in February 2024 from 29 different schools across the country. (91 applications were received)
Deliver annual TCPID graduate guest lecture series for Professional Master of Education and Master in Education students. Lecture developed with graduates with intellectual disabilities in 2020 and now delivered as part of Inclusive Education modules each year.
