Research Strategy

Research and scholarship are at the heart of what we do at the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID). Our research spans key areas related to intellectual disability and informs our teaching, our support for early-career researchers, our work with policy makers nationally and internationally, and our engagement with local and global communities. High-quality research underpins the Centre's strong reputation, both within Ireland and globally. We aim to engage students and graduates in co-design and co-research and foster innovative approaches to researching the impact of our work.

The Centre operates within the rich academic environment of Trinity College Dublin. Sitting within the School of Education TPCID aligns closely with the Schools five high level research goals. Furthermore the Trinity College Research Charter (2019) sets out seven core principles that guide all research across the institution. These principles resonate deeply within TCPID’s vision for research and are central to our strategic planning. Our research aligns with the University's Strategic Plan (2020) and Research Excellence Strategy (2019), setting an ambitious path for our work.

At TCPID, our research strategy is foundational to shaping the Centre’s future direction. By positioning research at the core of what we do, we aim to influence teaching, learning, and policy development while advancing the rights and opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. We are currently developing our Research strategy, watch this space for further developments!
