Relaunch of the Irish Disability Studies Association (IDSA)


Dr. Patricia McCarthy is pleased to announce an event that is taking place on Wednesday the 5th of December 2018 to celebrate the relaunch of the Irish Disability Studies Association (IDSA). The aims of the IDSA are to promote research and analysis about disability and to provide a forum on the island of Ireland, north and south, for analysis, discussion, exchange of ideas and scholarship on disability. The IDSA provides a space to bring together people and organisations with an interest in research and analysis of disability policy and practice. The IDSA will maintain a commitment to research and scholarship that promotes equal citizenship that is informed by the lived experience of people with disabilities.

Theme of event: The Disability Data Dilemma.


Speakers and Topics:

Dr Sarah Craig, Health Research Board. The new National Supports System which will be a single disability database replacing the National Intellectual Disability database and the National Physical & Sensory Disability database.

Dr Joanne Banks, School of Education, TCD. The disability data from the Growing Up in Ireland research.
