History of when collaboration began

In 2016, a partnership research capacity building program was established between HSE Mental Health Services Dublin South, Kildare & West Wicklow and the Trinity Centre for Practice & Healthcare Innovation (TCPHI), School of Nursing and Midwifery. A Steering Committee meets regularly to oversee the collaboration. Members include, the Director of Nursing, representative from Nursing Practice Development and Centre for Learning and Development, along with the Principal Investigator (Dr Michael Nash) and Research Fellow (Dr Jessica Power).

Healthcare researcher

The primary aim of the role of the researcher is to support and advance TCPHI-HSE Mental Health collaborative research with the purpose of developing high-quality nurse-led research that improves practice and patient care.

Title: “A Systematic Review of Alcohol Screening Tools for Older Persons and their Diagnostic Test Accuracy”
Description: Diagnostic test accuracy systematic review to identify validated screening tools for problem drinking in older adults (over 65 years)

Title: “Advanced nurse and midwife practitioner learning needs analysis”
Description: This is a survey to identify the learning and education needs of ANP/AMPs working in the Republic of Ireland

Title: “What are factors impacting the progression towards accreditation post Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy training in the Republic of Ireland”
Description: This is a survey exploring recent graduates perspectives on the process of accreditation as CBT therapists in Ireland.

Title: “Being a Mental Health Advanced Nurse Practitioner (MH ANP) in a time of Covid-19 – barriers and enablers to the MH ANP role during the pandemic”
Description: This qualitative study aims to explore the experience of being an MH ANP working in the HSE in the Republic of Ireland during the time of Covid-19.
