Research Interests
Teresa Lacerda is researcher at CHAM-Centre for the Humanities, Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. She has a MA in History of the Portuguese Expansion. She is a member of the H-Whale – A chronology of change: an heritage network of historical whaling in Europa (EEA Grants). She is presently collaborating with the project ERC Synergy 4OCEANS - Human History of Marine Life. She is writing her doctoral thesis entitled Territory, Mestizos and Miscegenation. The Formation of Portuguese Empire in Atlantic Africa (15th-18th Century). Co-authored with João Paulo Oliveira e Costa wrote the book A Interculturalidade na Expansão Portuguesa (Lisbon, ACIME, 2007). Teresa Lacerda scientific interests include early modern history, Atlantic history, sources theory and paleography.
