
Matthías Aron Ólafsson
Matthías Aron Ólafsson is a PhD student at the Department of History, funded by a Trinity Research Doctorate Award from the School of Histories and Humanities (2024–2028).
He holds a BA in History from the University of Iceland and an MA in Early Modern History from Uppsala University, Sweden.
Matthías has previously worked as a specialist in the Manuscript Department of the National Library of Iceland, where he catalogued and digitised early modern manuscripts, and as a Graduate Researcher at the University of Iceland. His current research explores transnational state formation in the early modern period, focusing on the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century investigative commissions of the Danish Oldenburg Empire across the Atlantic World and Asia.
