    Sinead has over 20 years experience working with people with ID and their families as an RNID and has worked with older adults with ID in a variety of healthcare settings including residential care and community based respite care. She is currently the programme leader for the BSc (HONS) in Intellectual Disability Nursing at Waterford Institute of Technology.

    Under the supervision of Prof Mary McCarron and Prof Philip McCallion, Sinead was recently awarded her PhD titled The prevalence and predictors of falls and fear of falling among participants in the Intellectual Disability Supplement to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA) - Wave 1.

    Sinead was a member of the Scientific Committee for the Wave 1 Intellectual Disability Supplement to the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA) and remains a member of the research team for WAVE 3 of the IDS-TILDA programme of research.

    In 2012 Sinead was awarded the Aging SIRG Fellowship Award at the IASSIDD World Congress in Nova Scotia, for her work on Fear of Falling in older adults with intellectual disabilities.
