Education and Training

The National Intellectual Disability Memory Service delivers education and training to equip everyone from healthcare professionals to family carers with the necessary knowledge and skills to support people to live well with dementia and transform care for everyone with ID and dementia.

Education and training is a vital component of the National Intellectual Disability Memory Service from bespoke webinars to training programmes for staff working in ID services to a series of masterclasses with the aim of building an understanding of dementia among people with ID, what the contributory factors specific to this population are and how the development of the condition can be slowed down or prevented for greater numbers of people with ID. Our popular masterclass series focuses on critical aspects of caring for someone with an ID recently or likely to be diagnosed with dementia with the aim of optimising high-quality person-centred care. We are delighted to announce the Spring/Summer Masterclass Series will continue on 13th April 2021.
