Here are some useful questions to reflect upon as you plan your PPI activities:

• Are you clear about the impact that your research can have and on what stakeholders? Do you know someone who will potentially be impacted by the results of your proposed research?
• Do you have a pathway by which that impact can be achieved for each of your stakeholders? Who do you need to work with on that pathway?
• Do you have a way in which you can explain your research to an audience who are not specialists in your area of study? What kinds of metaphors and similes do you use? Do you have people upon whom you can try out these explanations?
• Are you clear about where, within your research cycle, that PPI activities can take place? Are you clear about how those activities will benefit the process?
