To understand the context of service implementation and delivery a first stage of the study entails talking to key informants engaged in delivering the service including:

  • Health service administrators
  • Pregnancy Counsellors
  • GPs/Doctors in WHCs
  • Obstetricians, Midwives and Social Workers in maternity hospitals.

  • People attending unplanned pregnancy counselling services who may decide to continue the pregnancy or not
  • People under 12 week’s gestation seeking abortion care whose care pathway begins by consulting GP or WHC doctor.
  • People under 12 week’s gestation seeking abortion care whose care pathway involves them attending hospital services.

The research team are engaging with service providers to seek help reaching people for interview. People fill out an electronic or paper-based Consent to be Contacted to return their contact details and details of their age, education and area of residence to the research team. People are then contacted by the research team to receive further information about the study and be asked for their consent to take part in a qualitative interview for the study.
