Freshers' Week

Freshers' week is the first opportunity that new students have to get involved in environmentally minded groups (such as EnviroSoc, Botanical Society, Zoological Society, TCD Evergreen or Trinity Urban Garden and the sustainability initiatives of the Green Campus Committee & Trinity Sustainability. There are lots of free events on for the week, themed around the environment!

Trash to Treasure encapsulates the idea that when students are leaving residences at the end of the academic year, they create a vast amount of waste which would otherwise be of perfect use to new and incoming students in the following academic year. In September in each new academic year, we sell cutlery, pots/pans, plates, homeware, books, clothes and much more for minimal prices (funds cover the cost of hosting the event).

Climate and Biodiversity Action Week

Climate and Biodiversity Action week combines the annual climate action week with the student led biodiversity week, to introduce new students to sustainability on campus in October. This week has a host of events from planting trees, to herbarium tours and sustainable career panels.

Sustainable Event Guide

When hosting events, the environment can be impacted in many ways, such as through waste, transport to the event, energy consumption at the event, and the food provided. For guidance on how to make your event more sustainable, see the sustainable event guidelines.
