NatPro the Trinity Centre for Natural Products Research

NatPro, the Trinity Centre for Natural Products Research, is based at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Trinity College Dublin.
 
As an early adopter of the My Green Lab certification in Ireland, NatPro was certified ‘Green’ by My Green Labs in December 2021, becoming the second lab in Ireland to achieve the highest ‘green’ level certification. In 2024, NatPro was awarded re-certification, highlighting the Centre's continued commitment to sustainability practices and the team ongoing efforts. 
  
Since its inception, NatPro has woven sustainability into the Centre’s ethos. The Centre holistic approach spans across strategic planning to detailed lab operations with the aim to increase awareness and stimulate behavioural change to reduce negative environmental impact. All NatPro researchers are trained as My Green Lab Ambassadors as part of their induction, the topic is discussed regularly at team meetings and we have a ‘Green Lab Responsible Person’ appointed to lead on this topic internally. 
 
Commitment to behavioural and process change is a complex journey. Our goal is to strive for continuous improvement, challenging our practices in our daily work of delivering bio-based solutions, built on scientific evidence, with greater alignment to societal and environmental needs. NatPro focuses on Natural Products research and innovation to support health and the national transition to bioeconomy; thus, this theme is closely aligned with our work. 
 
We are thrilled to contribute to TCD’s green lab ecosystem and the national sustainability goals driven by Irish Green Labs. At NatPro we believe that we all have the opportunity and the responsibility to take the actions required to build a nature-positive future by contributing to sustainability practices.
