Communication, Student Involvement
Our Objectives
Trinity has set out objectives in its Sustainability Action Plan that aim to mobilise the entire college community, such as:
- Ensure all new students (UG, PG & Visiting) receive information about sustainability.
- Engage with external partners to promote and influence Trinity’s sustainability ambitions.
- Ensure inclusivity and engagement with community stakeholders.
- Communicate through the medium of art and performing arts.
Student Movements & Achievements
- In 2016, a student-led movement called Fossil Free TCD resulted in Trinity pledging to divest from fossil fuels.
- Trinity’s Trash to Treasure student-led initiative to organise an event for students to buy previous students homeware, kitchenware and books at a minimal price.
Getting involved as a student
Trinity has lots of opportunities to get involved in sustainability, from committees, to societies and to events:
- Our Green Campus Committee is open to all campus members, both students and staff.
- Many student societies and groups, such as EnviroSoc, Botanical Society, Zoological Society, TCD Evergreen and Trinity Urban Garden.
- Trinity Climate and Biodiversity Action week runs every October, and Trinity Green Week runs every March.
Trinity College Dublin Students Union has an Environmental Officer, who can be emailed on environmental@tcdsu.org with any questions or to get involved.
Our Sustainability Report details the progress that has been made in their implementation.
