University of Sanctuary Undergraduate Scholarships

Trinity College Dublin University of Sanctuary Undergraduate Scholarships are available to students in the Irish International Protection system, who have taken the Leaving Certificate or further education qualifications (e.g., FETAC level 5/6), and are offered a place on an undergraduate course in Trinity through the CAO.

These scholarships cover:

  • Academic fees for duration of undergraduate degree

  • Annual stipend (paid in monthly instalments)

  • A laptop

  • On-campus food allowance

The scholarships are open to people in the international protection system, including refugees, asylum seekers and people with leave to remain who are seeking international protection in Ireland and who wish to undertake their undergraduate studies at Trinity.

Scholarship Eligibility

  • Applicants must have been offered a place on an undergraduate course in Trinity through the CAO.
  • Applicants must have completed the Leaving Certificate examination and/or the QQI FETAC level 5/6 full award within the last two years.
  • Applicants must not be eligible for the free fees initiative.
  • Applicants must be able to commence studies in the year of application.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are entering a third-level undergraduate programme for the first time.
  • Some courses in Trinity have mandatory periods of study abroad. Applications for courses such as these will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the relevant School/Course.

Application Process

Applications for the academic year 2024/25 are now closed. Applications for 2025/26 will open in Spring 2025.
