Erasmus Exchange

Eligibility requirements

Before applying for admission as an Erasmus student please note:

  • Please ensure that you have been nominated by your university to participate in the exchange.
  • Check that the modules you wish to take are included in our exchange agreement with your institution.
  • Have an excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal. See Band B here to see a list of accepted certificates and scores.
  • Students participating in a 4-year degree should have a minimum of two years study at a high standard. Students participating in a 3-year degree should have a minimum of one year study at a high standard.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4-point GPA scale or equivalent is generally required for all incoming students.
  • You will only be eligible to enrol in modules within the departments you have been approved for in your offer letter. The Trinity Module Directory includes the most up to date list of modules (classes) available, but you will not be given the final list on offer or the timetabling information until your arrival. Therefore, it is especially important that you apply to all relevant areas of study that you may need to take classes in.
  • Please note that only undergraduate modules are available to visiting students with some exceptions e.g., certain Law and Mathematics agreements allow for postgraduate students. Postgraduates are also prohibited from enrolling in Trinity Electives. Therefore, students who are not required to be registered as a postgraduate student are advised to apply as an undergraduate.

Please also note:

  • Ultimately, acceptance into a department is at the discretion of the departmental coordinator.
  • Students are not officially accepted to Trinity until they have received an official offer letter from our team. We urge students not to make any plans before receiving this letter.

If you have concerns or questions about the requirements above or how your student’s academic standing will impact their application, please email erasmus.incoming@tcd.ie or global.mobility@tcd.ie.
