Welcome to Trinity video from the VP Global

Congratulations on your offer to study at Trinity College Dublin

We look forward to welcoming you on campus in September.

Six steps to accepting your Trinity offer:

Step 1: Accept Your Offer

Congratulations on your offer to study at Ireland's leading University, Trinity College Dublin in September 2024.

If we have all the necessary documents and they show that you meet our admission requirements, you will receive an offer letter within a few weeks. The offer can be conditional or firm.

To secure your place, you must accept your offer within the given deadline. Conditional offers must also be accepted within the deadline.

To accept, log into my.tcd.ie and open the offer notification in your Intray messages. Follow the instructions to accept the offer and then complete payment of the acceptance deposit (see Step 4).

Step 2: Meet Conditions

If your offer is conditional, you must upload additional documents at my.tcd.ie to meet the conditions, e.g. final grades or English language qualification.

Your offer letter will detail what additional documents are needed. Please also ensure your referees have submitted their letters of reference. When you have accepted your conditional offer and met all conditions, the offer will be progressed to firm.

Step 3: Visa

Some countries do not require a visa. Please click here to check to see if this applies to you. If you need to apply for a visa, use your offer letter to start the visa application process as early as possible. Visa applications will also require that you have paid a certain proportion of year one tuition fee – usually 50%.

Visa applications can take up to 2 months to process, so you should begin your application as early as possible. Trinity has no influence over visa applications but will advise where possible. All information required from Trinity for your visa application is included in the “Visa Letter”, which you can download by going to “My Applications” in the my.tcd.ie portal, and clicking “Generate Visa Letter”.

Whether or not you need a visa to enter Ireland, all nationals who are not citizens of an EU state, the EEA or Switzerland, must register with the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) after arrival. Please note that you should carry a printed copy of your offer letter to show immigration officials when you arrive in Ireland.

Further details on immigration can be found here.

Step 4: Payment

To accept your offer, you will need to log into your my.tcd.ie portal account, accept your offer and pay a deposit (amount dependent upon your course of study and visa requirements). You can pay fees by bank transfer, credit card or Transfermate. Click here to find out more.

For students who require visas, you should pay the minimum amount required to secure a visa with or soon after the acceptance deposit. This minimum amount will be detailed in your Visa Application guidelines, and is usually 50% of one year’s tuition fee. Your fee balance will be adjusted accordingly and reflected in the “Visa letter” which you can download from the my.tcd.ie portal.

After the acceptance deposit has been received, you will receive an email to check your my.tcd.ie portal.

An invoice for the balance of your fees will be presented to you in your portal. If paying by credit card, due to card limits, multiple transactions may be required. If you prefer to pay the fees by electronic transfer, this can take up to ten working days to clear. If you pay by electronic transfer you must quote your 8 digit Trinity application/student number in the transaction narrative so the payment can be associated with your application.

Click here to find out more about fee payment.

After your deposit has been processed, your application number will become your new student number. You can use that number to apply for Trinity accommodation via the accommodation website.

Scholarships

Please note that Trinity also offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarship opportunities.

Step 5: Register

If you have accepted, you will be invited to register online in August. To do so, you will need to pay the rest of your tuition fee for one academic year.

Step 6: Complete

You are now a Trinity student. Congratulations and we look forward to welcoming you on campus in September.
