Feedback & Complaints
Feedback
A feedback questionnaire is circulated annually to all students who attend the Service. We greatly appreciate your feedback as it essential to the continual improvement of our service.
Complaints Procedure
The Student Counselling Service operates according to professional guidelines, policies and practices.
Any student who wishes to make a complaint about the service they have received at the Student Counselling Service is encouraged in the first instance to address their complaint directly to the member(s) of the SCS team that the complaint concerns. If this proves unsatisfactory, or if they do not feel comfortable approaching the person directly, the issue can be brought to the attention of the Director of the Student Counselling Service, Trish Murphy, at Trish.Murphy@tcd.ie.
If the complaint concerns administrative processes at the Student Counselling Service rather than therapeutic or support services, then the student should make their complaint to the Administration Manager, Dorothy Coyne, at Dorothy.Coyne@tcd.ie.
Students should also be aware that should these approaches not produce a satisfactory resolution within a reasonable timeframe or should they feel the seriousness of the complaint warrants it, they are welcome to use the College Student Complaints Procedure.
All complaints will be dealt with in a strictly confidential manner and stored separately from the student’s client file. Records of the complaint will be held for 5 years after the resolution of the complaint or after the last correspondence, in line with the TCD Records Management Policy.
If these internal procedures fail to resolve the issue satisfactorily, and if they are of a professional clinical nature, a complaint may be made directly to the relevant Professional Associations of the staff concerned. The registration details of all staff can be found in their biographies in the 'Who We Are' section of the Student Counselling Service website. Members of the Counselling Team are registered with the Irish Council of Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
