Our alumni events provide an opportunity to hear from graduates who have built careers in a wide range of fields. Through panel discussions and networking opportunities, students can gain insights from experienced professionals and discover the many paths a degree in social sciences and philosophy can offer.

PPES Alumni Panel Discussion | Thursday 21 November 2024

Curious about where a PPES degree can take you? Join us this November as graduates of Trinity's Philosophy, Political Science, Economics, and Sociology programme share their career journeys across politics, law, consulting, and tech. Whether you're interested in non-profit work, project management, or public policy, this session offers valuable advice and real-world insights.

Format: A panel discussion with PPES graduates sharing their career journeys, followed by a student and panellist Q&A session.

Meet Our Panelists

Kate Cunningham

Kate has over 8 years experience working as a project manager in both non-profit and corporate environments in Ireland, the UK, USA and Belgium. With experience in programming, stakeholder management, communications, marketing, development, and fundraising she is currently working with strategic design company M-CO in Dublin.


Senator Lynn Ruanne

Lynn Ruane is an independent Irish politician, who has served as a Senator and the deputy leader of the Civil Engagement Group in Seanad Éireann since 2016. An early school leaver, Lynn attended An Cosán in Tallaght at the age of fifteen, and later returned to full-time education as a mature student through the Trinity Access Programme; graduating from Trinity College Dublin with an honours degree in Political Science, Philosophy, Economics and Sociology in 2016. While at Trinity, Lynn served as President of TCDSU in the 2015-’16 academic year.


Katie Lenihan

After graduating from PPES in 2018 with a concentration in politics and economics, Kate interned in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform as part of IGEES as a policy analyst / economist before making the change to law. She currently works as an associate in competition and regulatory law at Matheson.


Cathal O’Sullivan

Having graduated from the PPES programme, Cathal started a number of small businesses. He now leads the Accelerated Growth team at Google, where he is tasked with providing consulting services to help small and medium-sized businesses scale and thrive in competitive markets


Hannah Treanor

Since joining Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting graduate stream in 2018, Hannah has been promoted to Manager and have worked with major clients across various sectors including Public Services, Utilities, Gaming & Entertainment and Financial Services. She has mostly specialised in change management for IT projects but is currently working on strategy projects in the HR space. She has also attained certifications in Microsoft Fundamentals (MS-900), PSM1 (Professional Scrum Master) and PMP (Project Management Professional).
