Sociology Conference: Religion in Irish SchoolsThe Department of Sociology and the SIG “Belief Systems, Ethics and Philosophy in Education” of the Educational Studies Association of Ireland (ESAI) are organising a one-day international conference on “Religion in Irish Primary Schools”. The keynote speaker is Professor Thorsten Knauth (University Duisburg-Essen, Germany). Professor Daniel Faas appointed to three prestigious Visiting ProfessorshipsProfessor Daniel Faas from the Department of Sociology has recently been appointed visiting professor at Universidade de São Paulo, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the University of the Philippines Diliman. The appointments will enhance existing research collaborations as well as support Trinity's Global Relations Strategy through engagements with top international high schools and universities.

Professor Daniel Faas publishes a new article in School Leadership & ManagementProfessor Daniel Faas from the Department of Sociology, together with Aimee Smith (QUB) and Merike Darmody (ESRI), has published a paper entitled "The role of principals in creating inclusive school environments: insights from community national schools in Ireland". The article highlights the importance of leadership in shaping school climate that promotes a sense of belonging for all the students.

Sociology Welcomes MSc Comparative Social Change StudentsThe second intake of the joint MSc in Comparative Social Change, directed by Professor Daniel Faas, has commenced their studies today. 15 students from 5 countries will study key aspects of social change both in Trinity and UCD over the coming year.
