Professor Taha Yasseri will be presenting "If Siri Was Your Sister – Does it Matter if AI is Male or Female?" on Wednesday, 12th March at 4–5pm in Unit18 (Trinity in the Community), Macken Street.

Taha Yasseri is a Full Professor and Workday Chair of Technology and Society at Trinity College Dublin and the Technological University of Dublin, where he directs the Joint Centre for Sociology of Humans and Machines (SOHAM). He formerly was a Professor at the School of Sociology and a Geary Fellow at the Geary Institute for Public Policy at University College Dublin, Ireland. Taha’s work includes behavioral experiments in which human participants interact with AI agents. His findings in how we treat male and female AI agents raises pressing questions about policy and regulation, and ss AI takes on increasingly social roles, how we should navigate the biases it both reflects and reinforces.

Unit18 is a space provided by Trinity on the Trinity East campus for engagement with our neighbours. It is a place for residents of all ages and backgrounds to meet, learn, socialise and have fun. This is Trinity’s first dedicated space for civic and community engagement.
