The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy established the prestigious Grattan Scholars programme in 2012 to advance high-quality research and teaching at Trinity College Dublin. This initiative supports outstanding PhD students with the potential to become academic leaders and influential voices for social and economic development.
Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, dedication to teaching, and ambition to address societal challenges through their research. Grattan Scholars also play a key role in enriching undergraduate education through engaging and high-quality teaching.
Over the past decade, Trinity’s Department of Sociology has gained international recognition as a hub for migration research. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends, four Grattan Scholarships have been awarded in this area, driving impactful research and academic contributions.
