The DISCOVER Study- Dysphagia and Communication Difficulties amongst Adults Hospitalized with COVID-19 across Ireland

This national multi-site retrospective cohort study is being conducted in the Department of Clinical Speech and Language Studies to investigate the clinical characteristics of swallowing and communication difficulties amongst adults hospitalized with COVID-19 across Ireland. This study has obtained full approval from the National Research Ethics Committee (NREC) and from the Health Consent Declaration Committee (HRCDC). Data is being provided by twenty-one clinical sites across Ireland and is being analyzed by juregan@tcd.ie and walshema@tcd.ie.

The study aims to identify the factors associated with swallowing and communication outcomes and to establish the rehabilitation needs and services offered to this distinct clinical cohort during the pandemic.
