Tom Clonan Bio
Senator Tom Clonan is your 100% Independent University Senator.
- Graduated from Trinity in 1987 with a Bachelor in Education
- Was an army officer (Captain) and peacekeeper
- In 2000, Tom’s Doctoral Thesis revealed shockingly high levels of sexual violence in the Irish armed forces
- Academic and Irish Times Journalist lecturing in Ethics and Political Communication in TU Dublin until his election to the Trinity Panel in 2022
Tom lives in Dublin and has four adult children.
- His son Eoghan (22) has a rare neuromuscular disease and is a wheelchair user
- As a carer, Tom has campaigned for the rights of disabled children and adults for over twenty years
Tom has introduced landmark legislation on Disability and Gender Based Violence.
