Laoise De Brún is a passionate advocate for human rights, grounded in a lifetime of resilience, leadership and commitment to fairness. Raised on a farm in Co. Carlow, she embodies the values of hard work and community. A TCD law graduate, Laoise’s multifaceted career spans law, broadcast journalism, and advocacy with achievements ranging from making documentaries for the BBC, reporting for ITV news and being called to the Bar in 2022.

In 2019, Laoise founded The Countess, a human rights and advocacy organisation to protect the rights of women, children, parents, and the LGB community. Her leadership and advocacy has seen her organisation present to the UN and shape national discourse on critical issues. She has led transformative campaigns to protect the constitutional rights of mothers and preserve women’s legal protections. She has drafted groundbreaking legislation to protect female prisoners. She is a fearless and lifelong advocate for the vulnerable.
