Hazel Chu Bio
Hazel Chu is a Dublin City Councillor since 2019. She was formerly Lord Mayor of Dublin, a member of the City Recovery Task Force, Covid Response Team, Garda National Diversity Forum, National Maternity Hospital board, among others.
As Lord Mayor of Dublin, she founded and chaired the Homeless Committee. She works predominantly on climate, housing and equality. Working on the Housing Committee, Joint Policing Committee, National Anti-Racism Advisory Committee and local partnerships. She has a strong track record of fighting for climate action, affordable housing and tackling discrimination.
Raised in Firhouse and Celbridge, she lives in Ranelagh with her husband Patrick and daughter Alex. She is a trained barrister and was awarded a fellowship in marketing. Apart from public policy, she specialises in campaign and crisis management, having worked and held management and head of function roles in non profits; MS Ireland and St Michael's House, in public sector; office of the Chief Scientific Adviser, Forfas, Bord Bia and NDRC as well as multinationals; Diageo.
