We are delighted to announce that Professor Declan O’Sullivan has been honoured with the ‘Excellence in Supervision of Research Students’ award at a ceremony held on Tuesday evening.
This prestigious accolade, now in its second year, recognises outstanding supervisors in each faculty who exceed expectations in supporting the academic progress and wellbeing of their students.
To be considered for this award, supervisors must show exceptional dedication to promoting student success in research. This includes supporting the development of candidates' research skills, promoting excellence, and encouraging innovation and engagement in research. Additionally, supervisors are recognised for helping students critically reflect on the societal impact of their research and for guiding doctoral researchers in appropriately disseminating their research findings.
Professor O’Sullivan is a Professor in Computer Science in the School of Computer Science and Statistics. He co-champions the Trinity Digital Engagement interdisciplinary theme and serves as a Principal Investigator at the SFI ADAPT Research Centre. With a B.A., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Trinity, he has over 13 years of industry research experience and has held significant academic leadership roles, including Head of the Discipline of Artificial Intelligence and Director of Research. A Fellow of Trinity College since 2019, he has supervised numerous PhD and MSc students, with several of his mentees advancing to faculty positions at other universities.
Congratulations once again to Professor O’Sullivan for this well-deserved recognition!
