The School of Computer Science and Statistics at Trinity College Dublin is thrilled to announce the outstanding achievement of Viet Quoc Pham, in being awarded the prestigious IEEE Communications Society Best Young Researcher of the Year (EMEA) for the year 2023.
IEEE (the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest organisation of technology development, standards development, publications, and education in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer science. Membership of the IEEE is highly esteemed in the professional and academic communities, signifying a strong commitment to excellence and contributions to technological advancements.
The award recognises young researchers (under 35) in the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, who have been exceptionally active over the last three years in the IEEE through Communications Society (ComSoc) publications and professional activities, such as editorship and conference organisation.
Prof Pham’s research specialises in employing an arsenal of mathematical tools, such as convex optimization, game theory, and artificial intelligence to analyse and optimise future 6G wireless systems. In his recent work focusing on multidisciplinary research, he harnessed expertise from various sciences and disciplines to address important aspects of the interplay between AI and wireless communications.
Commenting on his award, Prof Pham said “I felt very honoured to receive this prestigious award from the IEEE ComSoc for the research and professional activities I have accomplished over the last three years. I will continue dedicating my academic life to advancing research on wireless AI that can benefit wider research communities and further enhance the research reputation of the College”.
