Athena SWAN - Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the School of Computer Science and Statistics
Athena SWAN
The School of Computer Science and Statistics was awarded Athena SWAN Bronze in 2021. Athena SWAN (Scientific Women’s Academic Network) Charter is the internationally recognised quality mark for gender equality in universities/colleges. The award demonstrates that the school has strong evidence-informed plans to address barriers to gender equity and develop inclusive culture and practices. Our action plan addresses the following themes:
- Supporting and encouraging existing female academics
- Addressing gender imbalance in recruitment of academic staff
- Addressing gender equality for research staff
- Increasing female undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) intake
- Supporting carers and families
- Ensuring implementation of the action plan
- Foundational changes to support EDI
The formal award ceremony was held online on 20th October 2021.
